IRC clients

mIRC - Windows

mIRC is a shareware IRC Chat client for Windows. With friendly user interface.
BitchX - Unix

Its client form (originally a script for the ircII client), BitchX now features: built-in ANSI color, ease of use. BitchX adds dozens of useful command aliases to reduce typing and lots of other stuff.
ircII - Unix

The ircII program is the first widely used IRC client. It is text only, with no sounds, graphics, menus, buttons, pop-ups, etc. It's not pretty but it's very practical. It usually runs on shell access accounts on UNIX operating systems, such as by ssh, telnet, or terminal emulation programs, although a minority of people run it on PCs under Windows, Mac OS, etc.
Ircle - Mac

Ircle is a Macintosh program to use IRC. You can also exchange files with others, also with PC or Unix users. With Quicktime and a camera or microphone installed you can even send live audio and video to other ircle users. Ircle is a shareware program.
Snak - Mac

Snak is a great IRC Client for Macintosh.
ChatNet - Mac

ChatNet provides the simplest Macintosh interface to chat and send files on the Internet.
IrcCE - Windows CE

IrcCE is an IRC client for the Windows CE platform. It currently runs on all Windows CE devices, including Windows CE 1.0, 2.0 and 2.11 and both Handheld and Palm Size PC's.
X-Chat - X Windows

System that looks and behaves a lot like AmIRC (Amiga). It requires GTK+ and optionally GNOME, Perl and Python. The program supports plug-ins, and a text-based interface is compiled if ncurses is found. This is an excellent IRC client, one of the best for Linux, or for that matter, any other system.
GTIRC - OS/2

GammaTech Internet Relay Chat (GTIRC) is the first Presentation Manager (PM) IRC client application for OS/2. GTIRC is a multichannel chat program which allows users to engage in real time conversations with people all over the world using the Internet.
PIRCH - Windows

PIRCH is an IRC client for the Microsoft Windows® 95/98 Platforms and Windows® NT. This version is NOT designed for windows 3.x.
upIRC - Palm Pilot

upIRC (formerly apIRC) is a fully RFC-compliant client for Internet Relay Chat servers, packed with a wide range of features.
irssi - Unix

Irssi is a modular IRC client that currently has only text mode user interface, but 80-90% of the code isn't text mode specific, so other UIs could be created pretty easily.
Baxter - BeOS

Baxter is a fully-featured Internet Relay Chat client for the BeOS.
lnIRC - BeOS

Another IRC client for BeOS, yet a bit out-of-dated.
AmIRC - Amiga

AmIRC's main strengths lie in its interface - it's one of the easiest IRC clients to use on any platform, yet it also keeps the power users happy with advanced ARexx scripting and its plugin API, allowing unique new features to be added.
kVirc - Unix, Windows

Yet another good IRC client for unix based systems and beta release for Windows.
